Unless you are nomads, and I am guessing there are not a lot reading this blog, we all live somewhere. Whether you like it or not where you live is part of the assignment God has given for your prayer life. If you live in a mansion or a mud hut that place where you are at has an impact on your effectiveness for God. So here are 3 things you can pray for your area:

  1. Pray for blessing on those in your city.

Jeremiah had an interesting request to the people to people in exile. “And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:7 NLT By praying blessing on the place that you live you are praying for blessing for yourself.

  1. Pray for key leaders.

You can pray for government leaders, media leaders, financial leaders, church leaders or other influencers in the area where you live. Paul encourages, “Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”1 Tim 2:2 No matter how evil your areas leaders; Paul’s Roman Empire would surely compete. Again it is to our benefit to pray for them.

  1. Pray for new Christian workers in your area.

We can always use more help and more people working for the Kingdom in our area. Jesus said, “Ask the Lord in charge of the harvest to send out workers to bring it in.” Matthew 9:38 CEV If Jesus said to ask then we can know with good confidence we are praying in the will of God. So might as well ask!

Imagine what is possible in your city!
