Not Just For Super Christians “Kickstarter” Style Event

Spiderman

I am excited because in the next few months we will be launching my third book-Not Just For Super Christians: A 30 day adventure with Jesus. It is designed to help people take their faith to a whole new level in 30 days with a very practical plan. We believe this also has the potential to help whole churches as they work through this book together.

As I travel around to churches of all shapes and sizes to many people are too intimidated to live out their faith and so they do not do simple things that all of us can do. This book was written from my heart to help people know the exhilaration of saying “yes” to following Jesus like never before.

What would it be like if individuals felt a new level of confidence to live out their faith in practical ways? How exiting could it be to have a church experience heart pounding adventure as they take a jump together into all that God has for them?

This book is not designed to be a run of the mill devotional but as an interactive experience to change your life. And yes, we have a time machine!

In order for us to get this book out into the world to make a difference in lives I wanted to launch a “kickstarter” style event. This will help us get copies of books into the hands of key leaders among other parts of our strategic plan. To make this a fun we have created levels and different “thank you”s to go with them. What level will you do?

Iron Man Level: $25 donation. At this level I will mail you an autographed copy of the book when it is released. Fly to this level (*)

Spiderman Level: $50 donation. At this level I will mail you autographed copies of each of my first three books the the newest one is released. Swing up to this level (*)

Batman Level: $250 donation. At this level you get everything in the Spiderman level plus a thank you on social media. (This would be a great way for a company to get in front of our 200,000 in social media.) To the Batmobile to help

Superman Level: $500 donation. At this level you get everything in the Batman level and a thank you in the credits of the book. Up up and away

Thanks for being a part of this fun event.

(*) Please considering adding $10 for postage if you live outside the United States. Thanks

A Gentle Reminder This Political Season

(Note: This post was originally written 10/16/2012 but we lost it with a website crash. I found the original word document and thought it would be appropriate to bring back in a 2016 United Stated political season-Kevin)

This post may get me in trouble with some of you, but read on anyway. This is high political season in the United States. Let me tell you a story. One of my favorite books of the Bible is Philippians. And I love the back story on the location. You may not know that Philippi was one of the places that had great battles with famous Romans like Brutus and Anthony. After one of these might battles, as a reward for being a place of victory, the whole city of Philippi is granted Roman citizenship. Now this was a big deal. Along with all of the other perks of citizenship the people of Philippi enjoyed the fact that they did not have to pay taxes. Yes, even back then it was about taxes. So this was a group of people that were very proud of their citizenship. So it was probably a little jarring when Paul writes them these words:

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philippians 3:20)

He was reminding them where their allegiance was to be first. And that is a good reminder for us as well.

What I am not saying

I am not saying that you should not be involved in the political process. Paul even in this book talks about those serving God in “Caesars household.” If God calls you to a political career do it as if you were working for the Lord not men. I am not saying not to vote. In the United States it would be interesting to see what would happen if every Christian actually voted.

What I am saying

Our hope does not come from politics

No matter what political party you support our true hope comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth. Certain things in this world will never be right until our Savior comes that we are “eagerly” waiting for from heaven. And this is good news because the Bible reminds us that He is coming.

Our loyalty is first with our citizenship in heaven.

As Christians we are dual citizens. But we must remember that our first responsibility is to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6). No matter the political season we must live a life of love and kindness. We must maintain control of our tongues and lay down our lives for others. For we serve a King who gave up heaven to lay down His life for us.

So before you go on with your day why don’t you take a moment and pretend to take out your passport for heaven. Take a look at it and commit to living today with the interests of heaven in mind, even in a political season.

Start Somewhere

In this video I give you the place to start if God has put a dream in your heart.

Before you leave and think this doesn’t apply to you let me encourage you to realize this is true no matter what you are working on in your life:

You want a better marriage, maybe you need to buy a book on building your marriage. Start Somewhere.

You want to exercise more, maybe simply start by taking the stairs over the elevator. Start Somewhere.

You want to eat healthier, maybe you start with a little protein first thing when you wake up. Start Somewhere.

You want a better prayer life, begin by praying while you brush your teeth. Start Somewhere.

You want better relationships, start by committing to one church event other that Sunday AM. Start Somewhere.

I hope that you are beginning to get the idea. Charles Duhigg in his book, The Power of Habit, talks about keystone habits. These are habits that become the foundation of changing a bunch of habits. But again you have to start somewhere.

In the video you hear me talking about some action for 20 seconds. This is a reference to a quote from the movie We Bought A Zoo.

So before you go on with your day, send an email to ask someone to be your accountability partner, update your status committing to being at the prayer meeting once a month, or buy the book on prayer. Start Somewhere!
